Paris Honours Rural Artists

The Times of India, Kolkata (Friday, 13 June, 2015), reported based on CM Mamata Banerjee’s Fb post about the participation of 5 artisans from Rural Bengal (Patachitra, Wooden Mask, Sitalpati, Dokra of Bikna & Terracotta) in the Gannat Festival. The artisans also took part in a special event at Paris Plage and at the UNESCO Headquarters, Paris on 28th July 2015. Along with the crafts persons, a Baul singer and a Chau performer was in the team. In her post, she said the effort is to spread Bengal craft across boundaries and bring international recognition for the crafts persons. The hubs have been developed by the Dept of MSME&T, Govt. of WB.
